Stitching fish continued...

I've managed to get a little more done despite a fair bit of baby sitting this last week...
but I did teach Miss Nearly Three Year Old how to stitch buttons on to a piece of fabric, and we made a few button necklaces and now she is totally besotted with threading buttons :)

What a lovely evening walk around all the rock pools at low tide.  It was 6 pm and still the sun was very hot.

Bunny Love - a free pattern

I made a small pattern from a little watercolour painting I did way back in March 2010, when I first started a little bit of embroidery.  I am putting a link to it on the side bar, and I have started embroidering it.

It is mostly just backstitch, seed stitch, running stitch and some satin stitch.  I haven't specified any colours, so use anything you feel like!  I am trying to finish mine in time to put a pic up on Valentine's Day.  I used a bit of light blue watercolour paint on the bunnies, then I used running stitch as the filling stitch for them.  I am filling the inside of the heart with pink seed stitch, and I'm using satin stitch for the flower.  I've used 2 strands of floss for everything except the bunnies, where I used only one strand for the outline and one strand for the fill.

I'll post some more pics once I've finished.

Stitching fish

I've been slowly slowly stitching around this fish project, no real plan in mind except for a small pencil drawing of a beautiful real life fishy image I found online.  It's another slow project which is kind of relaxing.  I used watercolour on the calico first to give it some colour.  I like the way the pigment spreads and collects at the edges.

I have lots of projects in my head and in my sketch book, but real life sometimes takes over and when a certain little 2 year old comes to visit all my artistic pursuits are put on hold while we explore colour pencils and textas, read books and watch Totoro!
