What happened to May and June?

Well what did happen to May and June?  I tried to get back into my embroidery and painting, but to no avail.  I did lots of walks in the winter warm sun, coffees with friends, lots of  children staying and playing, eating and drawing, building lego houses and wooden towers, watching Pepper Pig over and over again...

A walk along the beach and this discovery...a well built little shelter and seat out the front to enjoy the sunshine, and it withstood the high tide as well...

I love the smooth bleached wood

a bit like Robinson Crusoe?

and a cave at the end of the beach ... smuggler's cove.

This is the beginning point of a daily walk along the river....looking out to the east and the mouth of the river further on.  This pelican was warming her feet on the sand, the winter sun is much lower down in the sky...

And on this daily walk, some regular visitors in the river

who love to show off for the boats

Looking north to the other side of the breakwall and this is where the river meets the sea.  The water churns and surges here, depending on the tide

and all along the walk are rocks painted and decorated by visitors to the area, only to be painted over by the next ones to come along...

and when you get to the end of the walk, this is the view looking to the east and south.

There was also a visit to my sister, and this is her cat, Wolf, who would really rather be outside, but the weather was wet and dreary and the thought of wet paws made him resort to looking discontentedly through the window.

After a wet week it was lovely to get back to some sunny winter weather.  The sun does amazing things for the spirit.  The photos at the beginning of this post are of a drawing on calico that I have started embroidering.  Hopefully I will have some progress pics to post soon!  If it works out I will make a pattern for it.
